In my master thesis I presented a robotics expansion pack that works in unison with the modular construction materials the company Infento Rides has on offer. These construction materials consist of aluminium profiles and reinforced plastic joints which can be used to build life size creations like a pedal kart.
Education has grown into a prime market for Infento Rides and adding robotics to the line-up adds a new dimension to the current product offering. Infento Robotics is primarily targeted at technical education of the age group of twelve and upwards. There is a real need in the market for enticing learning materials for technical education.
To cater for this need, a robotic expansion pack for the Infento system has been developed. In order to evaluate the system the different concepts and designs have been implemented in accurate prototypes that stay close to the final design. Insights that have been gained during the creation of the prototype were presented on a component level. Ultimately, two showcases were presented that explore what an Infento Robotics creation could be like and how people react to it.
